- To calculate total home purchase mortgage originations for the entire United States, for the years between 2007 and 2017, we add “Purchase Loans: 1-4 Family: Total Originations” (see Table 1A, p. 18-19 of Dietrich et al) and “Multifamily loans: Total Originations”. For years 2018 through 2021, we calculate total home mortgage originations in the United States by adding “Home Purchase: Site Built 1-4 Family: Total Originations” (See Table 1, p. 9 of Liu et al) and “Multifamily: Total Originations.”
